I'm just trying to decide if I will actually get use out of these and they don't end up just being one of those cool accessories to have...sigh

I'm thinking of it as a extra level of insurance as well - like the snorkels.
We don't traverse water and dirt roads everyday (like the plate bender at Green Ridge / trails on a good day anyway); but when the time comes, you are glad you have it.
(and yes, they are cool!)

the gas one can be a hit or miss....the water however is a no brainer. 4 gallons of water (around 40 lbs ) is easy enough to carry, and big enough that if needed, 2 people could carry it. it can be filled up, and put aside for emergencies such as power outages, winter storms, hurricanes, ect. its always good to have some water around to wipe down after a hot trail ride, flush a toilet if the water goes out, whatever....

ONE WEEK LEFT!
Good news - we may be able to crack the full discount by the end of the week based on interest at Coal Miner (the guys let me shill prior to their raffle [thanks Jon, JP, Mark, and Rich])
Cam (Iron Pig) is def. possibly in, but is probably busy going through all the raffle items he won Saturday night so I'll update with his order when if it comes in.

Well the water pack that Amy got me showed up today (what a great girlfriend)! I did a test fit and took a few pictures for everyone's benefit. 2 containers fit the roof rack both length and width wide side by side: The packs also are under the top bars of the roof rack: Just for kicks I filled up the white container with water. These get quite heavy! It took a good heave-ho to get it up on the rack when full. All in all I am very happy with these containers so far. Their first real test will be at the OBX expedition in August, unless I manage to get out and camp before then.

hey Ryan... they look pretty cool up there...a perfect fit.... just how heavy are they when filled? do you think i would have a difficult time getting a full one on the roof rack?

I would estimate that they are ~40lbs each when full. It takes a little bit of effort to get them up on the roof, but its not too bad. I will bring them with to the night run at Green Ridge this weekend for those who wish to see them.

a pints a pound the world around 8 pints in a gallon, i think the containers hold 4 gallons? so 32 pounds of liquid + the container. I'd say 40 pounds was a pretty close guestimate.
