Here's a Link to VRBO (Vacation Rentals By Owner). If you click on the area you're interested in it gives you listings. If you click on a particular listing most of them give you a pic of the property and amenities, and at the bottom contact info for the owner, prices for different times of year, and a calendar to find out if it's available during the timeframe you're interested in. Most of the motherboard folks and the trail team are planning to be in the general Hatteras vicinity on this run.

I am originally from San Diego. With all the sun and fun with babes on the beach, surfing and sunning. I still love the beach in the fall. Its cool at night, still somewhat nice during the day. If it rains it still is a nice place to be kind of like California Dreamin' by the M & t P. It's my favorite time of the year.

BTW San Diego doesn't have a fall, so it's a nice experience.

UPDATE 5/29

We are looking into other location options as price has been an issue.  If you have all ready sent you deposit, it will be credited towards the deposit for the chosen location or if the new location is not to your liking - it will be refunded.  All other deposits sent after the selection of new location will be non-refundable.

Lodging Update

I’ve spoken to Hatteras Realty and got some information about a house we can rent for the OBX trail weekend.

Casa Alabbexi
http://www.hatterasrealty.com/house/CASAALABBEX

You can see from photos here (and on the link), it is very cool looking inside

Here is the rental dollar figures:

Rental: $4000
Admin Fee: $75
Travel Insurance: $265
Total: $4340

We can secure it if we rent for the week (October 14 -21).  If we want to do it for the weekend only (19-21), we have to wait until 10-14 days prior to the event and even then there is no guarantee of availability.

The house has 8 one bed bedrooms, and two with 4 bunk beds per (a total of 24 people).

I did some preliminary math and assuming we fill very room with couples and singles (again, 24 heads total), it comes to $181 per head.  We can even divvy up the cost further if some people care to “rough it” with sleeping bags.

Since we can potentially have it for a week, there also lies the possibility some can use it as a vacay location prior to the actual event, starting Sunday the 14th.  The house itself is $620 a day and we can figure out a rate from that.

In order to secure the location, we need to make a deposit of $2200.  I’m offering to make the official deposit on my CC provided everyone interested makes a good-faith non-refundable sub-deposit of $92 (assuming 24 people - couples and singles) to me to recoup the costs – the difference will be the rest of the rent.

So, by June 8th, we’d like to get a head count of who would be in, how many in your party, bedroom choice, and you potential arrival date.
Please PM me so I can keep track (things get lost in threads and accuracy becomes an issue)

Deposit Payment Methods (AKA: The Ugly Stuff)
Please review the attached deposit form for more details

Personal Check
If you are going to send the good faith deposit, make your check out to “Citibank”, and PM me for my mailing address or use the one on the attached form.

Paypal
To ensure the $92 per head deposit, and offset the paypal fees, here are your amounts per head to send:

1 person = $95.06 (PP fee $3.06)
2 people = $189.80 (PP fee $5.80)

3 or more, please use this calculator (http://www.ppcalc.com/)

Send your payments to verified e-mail fj@thewebmench.com.

Cash
No fuss, no muss!

Please fill out the attached form and return with payment (or e-mail using Paypal method) so I can keep records on who is coming.

Hey all, first post here.

Check out http://www.midgettrealty.com/ for some good deals on houses there.  We have booked a sweet house there with 5 bedrooms 4.5 baths for a lttle over 1000 bucks.  Prices are way down that week.  There are also good prices on some hotels there.

Hi everyone!

I understand everyone's concerns about price (I had mine too); so for now, I will take Yoda's, Joe's, and akoda suggestions and look into alternatives.  Give me a couple days to get some figures going.

How big of a place is going to be required?  I don't know if Kris and I can make it, but thought that I might explore a few options.

The goal is to have as many people as possible at one location; so the more rooms the better.

Just so we have one consistant thread on this, please PM me with what you find so we can review it behind the scenes with other board members before going public; this way we prevent any confusion.
