I am in between getting 285/75R16 or 255/85R16 any help or input is welcomed. I know a lot of guys  who do expeditions say the 255/85R16 are good.

Well i just got the 255's and I love them.  I did a lot of research on them before hand.

Here is a great article to read.

If you want to see how they look on a 4runner check this out (new generation)

There are two basic ideas.
1.  The narrower tire will have more weight of the truck per inch.  This creates better deformation on rocks etc.

2.  The thinner tires dig to find traction rather than floating like the larger tires do.  This means that in snow and mud they will dig to the bottom and be able to find you traction.  However if either of those two obstacles are too deep then you're pretty much SOL either way.

Now on the downside deeper water and sand, the tires will be less helpful than the wider tires.

Hope this info helps in making your decision.

Thanks I read that article before too. I was always going back and forth and wanted feedback from someone who has the 255/85. How long have you had them? and do they work well in the snow, mud etc..

I have had them on for about three weeks.  Only been wheeling once and that was in the pine barrens.  I had no problems in the sand and also no problem in the mud that we went through or the dry dirt hill climbs.  Its hard to say if they were better in my opinion.  But they did work without any problems.  I am going out to Greenridge tomorrow so i will let you know more then.

285's might feel a little more stable than the skinny's but I can't attest to that in person.

So I finally decided to get the 255/85R16 and BFG Mud Terrain KM2,  No ones has the TRXUS MT and interco stopped making them due to low demand. I always go back to BFG's  never had a problem with them plus they last along time. Anyone else running the KM2's?
